Project  Balenciaga

My encounter with Cristobal Balenciaga revealed his designs as reflections of his personal essence. Exploring his work unveiled how he drew from Spanish art and his Catholic faith to craft wearable art. Inspired by his ability to infuse expression with restraint, as well as his subtle nods to serenity and divinity, I aimed to imbue my own garment with unexpected versatility.

Drawing on my background in fine art , I sought to merge sustainable practices with artistic aesthetics. Through upcycling Nespresso coffee capsules, custom herbal dyeing with gardenia, and zero waste cutting inspired by the Baby Doll dress, I aimed to create pieces that cater to diverse body types. Prioritizing versatility, comfort, and sustainability, I envisioned my designs as a response to the post-pandemic world. By blending Balenciaga's design language with my personal narrative, I aimed to create something both couture and ready-to-wear, embodying the legacy of Balenciaga while embracing a more conscientious approach to fashion.
